Gives us hope for justice. But is it a real thing? Maybe. Or
there is no karma and these are coincidences. there are so many instances of people doing really shitty things and not being badly affected. i think a better way for us to navigate the world is to have our own moral compass. with loftier goals then oooh if i dont do that, then some super power like gravity will just magically appear and pull me down. yes it did not pull down X and Y even though they did worse things than i plan to; but hey that must be cause they were some saint in their past life? come on
and the flip side, yes i did bad things a,b and c but i also did great things d thru z so nothing bad should happen to me.
i think teaching morals and values is better than guilt and fear of the unknown and unproven except for some examplesTushar Kapilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10202966346699019551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2828163966292863305.post-20560926423526484712021-12-27T23:14:00.000+05:302021-12-27T23:14:39.326+05:302010 2008 photos

Helped her for many years and now has helped me.
Eat 3-4 raw okra (ladies finger or bhindi) in the morning, preferable on an empty stomach ( i have it 30 minutes after my thyroid tablet)
Just wash, keep outside if in fridge and eat when at room temperature. First few times felt a bit odd, but over all great. Don't eat the end stub.
Have for 25-30 days every 6 monthsTushar Kapilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10202966346699019551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2828163966292863305.post-39687352425661950962021-01-17T20:39:00.002+05:302021-01-17T20:39:26.303+05:30 diabetes, sugar control and fastingAdvice on diabetes, sugar control and fasting : https://youtu.be/IgMwL6Y--HU?t=811
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfA2namCs7Y We did one in muy flats. Very proud after 1.5 years see images at https://photos.google.com/share/...
• Can get detailed instructions from https://www.afforestt.com/methodology They even did a one in the Netherlands https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDSlft037gk (ivn.nl/tinyforest/n... using google translate; they have many now, even have a pin code lottery, and planted 10k saplings all over Netherlands)
• Handy calculator for margin and grow area https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GMBH2crEH8qyM5v1btEnshe_yT4xwX3eQw70ml6rV2k/edit?usp=sharing Photo is of the one in my building. My idea, 2018 September. Some of them have grown well now!
•Idea is to go deep, add manure, compost, cocopeat, dry corn waste or something else to make soil loose, then put native trees - 60 cm of each other, a shrub, then a 1-2 that will grow 12-25 feet and 1 that grows taller so they take up seperate areas of the sun light. Like apartments
• We dont add fertilizers or any chemicals. Dig 4 feet deep, added bio mass (sugar cane after juice removed and dries or dry husk/ corn waste, coconut shell, broken to bits ... cocopeat, good to hold water; cow manure, compost, fallen leaves. Make a mound so extra water runs off plus its super natural fertile. Then put saplings. We removed some non native species that the builder had put (4 palms and another tree that is not native to here), then planted 115 saplings.
• Five saplings did not make it. Might be due to the quality of saplings and initially had added 5 Singapore cheery trees which are not native to India, they grew very fast, blocking light to others. Also we did not have enough (dried) sugarcane waste (something to make the soil loose, can use husk too). anyway enough have lived, see the pictures, can see the transformation. We water 6 times a week unless it rains, for the first 3 years.
• Add mulch (dry leaves). So yes a lot of activity but 100% natural. no medicines, but we do mix in neem and other saplings that are medicinal and help each other

Some of us want to go to court to stop new commercial buildings in Bellandur and surrounding.

Brief : looking for people who will give 3-10k each. If we can collect 3.5 lakhs then will go ahead. Also looking for two Kannada speaking volunteer who are good at getting work done from freelance agents. Why 3-10k? Its a voluntary donation for lawyer, court and expenses to get certified copies. Can give what you can, want a minimum of 3k. Up to you to give yourself or share with a friend and transfer together.

Detail:

With inspiration from people who have stopped earlier buildings from coming up.

A generic PIL and stay cases backed by facts that we can collect (like 20-30 minute long one shot non edited mobile videos of slow commutes, showing 2km in more than 15 minutes. Like during an Uber trip so have video, time and distance, or use google maps and a shot of watch or another phone at start and end of video)
* Need to ask Govt to implement via case: we need specific statistics to allow a new multi storey building. Like a person can travel by his own car - 1 km in 5 minutes (not under ideal conditions but in peak traffic).

* Maybe the court and govt will say that is too little we need 10 minutes. Still in Bellandur it takes me 25 minutes to go to my ofc which is 1.8km away from my flat. I walk back home when I can as it takes the same time and give me some exercise !

There are many things to do to make our case stick. Like collect data about traffic, water, time to hospital, some specific cases about people having respiratory and other health issues made worse by the congestion and lack of infrastructure.

More than whatsapp message want long unedited videos (uploaded to youtube or drive and made shareable)
Prints out/ photo copies of health records, medical reports and doctor diagnosis.

Take all this to our lawyer and start a case. They will ask for specific plans of proposed buildings http://environmentclearance.nic.in/timeline.aspx?pid=SIA%2fKA%2fNCP%2f29534%2f2018&type=TOR&ID=66311 (the documents are no longer visible but we have downloaded what was there 3 months back and have in drive)

For folks who want to contribute for our PIL and related legal actions like asking for stay of specific commercial properties (for immediate relief). We are not against Dev just against over unplanned Dev that cannot be sustained.

What we need is mass transport, upkeep of current roads, living within the budget and then think of corridors after 3-4 years. And for car, bike and taxi users to use them at least 60% of journeys a week.

Sample video https://youtu.be/Y5xL3xd5fCI

Time line : around 2 months to get case going. Step 1 is collect money and a group who will sign.
step 2 send notice to government, we sent before but they ignored all, one point we will add is for reassessment of this area with water, traffic, air pollution, commute time on peak time during days when school, givernment, pvt all offices are working at 8:45-10am and 5:30-8pm
Get papers that lawyer asks.
3. file case, lawyer has to appear on our behalf in this type of case. We only need to give all facts in writing and sign
Will be good to have individuals and RWAs to sign with a set protocol to follow if a few leave during the case. There will be no refund of money but they can change mind. atleast 20 people should be 100% committed to each word before we proceed.

I got this from a few people:

https://www.change.org/p/1-shri-s-siddaramaiah-the-hon-ble-chief-minister-the-metro-will-kill-us-metro-will-run-through-my-house-thousands-will-be-homeless
My reply
Re the Cantonment station metro and how its going to destroy a few houses. As far as I know, from a friend who lost his factory to the phase 1 - they give you 2.5x of BBMP rate so its market rate after taxes plus enough to cover expenses of moving. So no financial loss.
Unfortunately where ever you put it, its thru Shivaji nagar and other parts of a full city, so there are going to be displacements. I would think it would be less if via Queens Road ... a wife road?
Also see
https://www.change.org/p/cpronammametro-bmrcl-namma-metro-with-namma-consultations/

40,000 people have signed this petition regarding the Cantonment Metro station location. Not sure who is more correct. The original plan till May of this year was to have at Cantonment station parking. Few 100 people, including me, protested when it was announced by BMRCL to move it to the BBMP playground. I do not like it cause if you go on any day after 3pm will see 100s of kids and adults playing there. They are poor people, who cant afford expensive gyms or paid play areas and there is no other park or playground in that area.
40,000 people have signed that petition. Besides the playground some people have doubts that the walk way will ever be built or maintained.

Might have read how Yesvantpur metro and railway station integration is not great even now. Even though close by its not easy to go in crowded time from one to another. Small lift, many people with suitcases... See https://goo.gl/aVi1jT and https://goo.gl/y3EDp4 for some of the difficulties when lifts are full in Yesvantpur metro to the station.

So I hope you read both and then decide where you stand. Personally I'm not sure of the cost benefit of having it near the station. It will help commuters, especially those who use the new suburban trains. Railways is even planning a new platform in Cantonment in some empty space so that we can have more trains stopping here.
That will mean more people will use metro if its close by. Think about if the walkway does not come up and instead so many more people use own vehicles, autos and taxis.

At least I would use less for short distances if the time to go directly is much less.

In the end do some math and decide vs 800 crores saved and better integration.

Vs a playground being taken over and kids having no outlet for energy...to better integration for suburban, and other train users.

If you can, I urge you to go to Abdul Bari's High School Ground https://goo.gl/JSo3By see how narrows the roads are, not sure how homes wont be destroyed if it has to come here?

So metro station being near Jayamahal, Vasant nagar, spacious road in front of Cantonment station (and as far as I was told all the land belongs to the Indian railways and they are giving it to us free for the namma metro station as they know how important it is for public that has been clarified)

So I do not know if money savings or better integration will win. But I pray :
If we have to build it in the playground I at least hope we only take up 45% of land and leave rest for kids to play. And if we are really going to save so much money how about making a
multi-storey building with three floors 30 foot high so its a play area for cricket, football, etc a 365 day a year usable place with additional 4 floors for shops to recover the costs and give amenities in the area?

From another citizen who is in touch with experts: my heart bleeds for the residents , but this is a little reactive and may not be a fully researched piece- Many of us concerned citizens have taken time and trouble via experts to locate alternative solutions for the Metro vent n shaft so that this home displacement doesn’t happen. So it’s already work in progress & surveys that have been done there. The Blr Metro has ignored all these alternatives presented, choosing to continue an opaque POV and a panic button., . Sadly, what BMCL has cleverly done is use us poor residents to create a fear factor of getting us and the large public to believe that they have only one option- and the ONLY choice is between putting the Cantonment Metro at Bamboo Bazaar rather than at Cantonment - a slipshod, hasty recent option , which has already been dismissed by experts and public consultation !
So the many alternatives ( from what I recall ) include a slight change in curvature in one or two spots , shifting the shaft site to an empty plot diagonally opposite , request a small portion of Para Regiment Land nearly , slightly reduce the length to under 1500 mts . BTW, both Bby and Delhi Metros have 1700 and 2000 meters without a ventilator shaft, so why is this 1610 meter one causing an issue ?
And Rock blasting ? This was done at DPR Time when they knew what was there and the same blasting happened in Majestic area , perhaps with some additional work but was managed alright .

Dear Mr. K J George,
MLA- Sarvagna Nagar, Minister for Bengaluru Development and State Town Planning Gov't. of Karnataka.

It was great to hear you speak yesterday about our Solid Waste Management issues. Hope you will come out with soon with dates and have regular updates about city wide activities.

* Look forward to seeing all our pourakarmikas on government rolls.
* A good attendance system over looked by good BBMP officers so they are pourakarmikas fairly and on time every time. I work for a salary, and in 1999 when my then company was late paying us, we were tired of working in 3 days! Am glad these people have more patience and continue cleaning up our mess.
* I hope to see your personally going to a few chosen people's homes in Blr who have been composting for more than a year and taking pictures and video with them (with press coverage). We need regular reminders and pats on the backs for these people. If more people see what they are doing, living in small indpendant homes and flats, they might start the same to?
* Also look forward to reading about BBMP officers and police officers taking part in koint drives every week. We have to keep the tempo up. We need reports on hours spent on field and how many people checked, besides what violations made.
* Look forward to Vidhan Soudha to shun plastic bottles in favour of steel glasses and jugs. Steel looks good. Though plastic is fine too if ministers are fine with it. But should be reused for a few months at lesat.
Better than the small plastic bottles that are not banned but still are solid waste that can be avoided.

Thank you for taking time to address us. Looking forward to regular meetings like this every 2 months at least. Need to make course corrections, thank volunteers.

Thank-you

Jai Karnataka, Jai Hind.

A timeless story on conservation and reuse:
A disciple of Buddha, said, "Oh Master! I have a request to make."

Buddha: "What is it; tell me?"

Disciple: "My robe is worn out. It is no longer decent enough to wear. Please, may I have a new one?"

Buddha looked at the disciple's attire and found that the garment was absolutely in tatters and really needed replacement. So he asked the store-keeper to give a new robe to this disciple.

The disciple offered obeisance to the great master and left the room.

Buddha kept thinking about the incident and felt that he had perhaps missed an opportunity to teach a valuable lesson to the disciple. So he went to the disciple's quarters to talk to him.

Buddha: Are you comfortable in your new robe? Do you need anything else?

Disciple: Thank you Master. I am very comfortable and do not need anything else.

Buddha: Now that you have a new one, what have you done with the old one?

Disciple: I have used it to replace my worn out bedspread.

Buddha: What did you do with the old bedspread?

Disciple: Master, I am using it as a curtain on my window.

Buddha: Did you discard your old window curtain?

Disciple: Master, I tore it into four pieces and am using them as napkins to handle the hot pots and pans in the kitchen.

Buddha: What about the old kitchen napkins?

Disciple: We are using them as mops to wash and wipe the floor.

Buddha: Where is the old mop?

Disciple: Lord, the old mop was so tattered that the best we could do was to take all the threads apart and make wicks for your oil lamp. One of them is presently lit in your room."

Buddha was content. He was happy that His disciples realized that nothing is useless. We can find a use for everything, if only we want to! Nothing should be wasted; not even time!

If all of us were to practice the habit of thrift, we can preserve the non renewable resources for our children, our grandchildren and our great grand children as our forefathers so thoughtfully did for us.

Let us vow together to leave at least one monument for our children: The Earth!

The real measure of a man's wealth is what he has invested in eternity.

In today's world we need to compost food waste. So we produce less wet waste that has to be handled by our local villages that are already reeling under the stink and health risks. Even if you do not have space to compost 100% of food waste, separate it from other waste and do a part of it. Rest give in separate bins.

Regards
Tushar Kapila

I have this sentence stuck in my head. "When the revolution comes, you will do as your told". I think it came from an article I read in the Reader's Digest in the early 1990s. What a good magazine that is, except for the silly marketing of winning sweep stakes etc, put us off it with the misleading statements. Its marketing was the opposite of most of the articles it had. Gave a very "do as I say, not as I do", maybe that is what living in the over crowded, over used world today is. There are many good things, but in the end practical living is not on a predefined path used by someone else. Might not fit, most probably has changed a lot since it was experienced and written by.

Going to back the revolution. A lot of people want good change but seem to be able to focus on one or two big things only. They call that effective and what is possible by a small group. Maybe they are right about being quickly effective. But still makes me think about this statement and wonder.

In the story the revolutionary speaks about what they are going to change and how things will be later. One common man says "But I do not want that, I want ..." to which the revolutionary says "When the revolution comes, you will do as your told!"

So besides one size does not fit all, seems the big revolutionaries can't cater to, too much choice, or to little even, as it makes everything complex and you have other wise faithful questioning the fairness and workability of the new system.

On the other hand, sometimes the way things are, are o unsustainable that change is needed. I hope the efforts of Citizens for Bangalore change for adding more buses, is fruitul and that in a year, we have fewer private vhecles taking people to office, instead using buses and other mass transport.

For that we need our tax money to subsidize bus rides, add 6,000 more buses, improve routes, have a few mini buses ... have drivers who stop at stops, not 15 feet out on the road, at least stop and not just pass by stops. More on this at Citizens for Bangaluru, their twitter and at facebook group citizens for bengaluru

I left as to me he seems like a vile problem starter, encouraging hatred if its related to lowering volume of loud speaker at mosque. For me that is a civic issue. I know temples, churches, evaangelists, people celebrating Ganesha do it in India, but does that make it right? And do you encourage someone to start a fight or de-escalete it if your a leader?

Am happy to be out of the group. Hope we get better leaders.
Hope the government & schools makes situations where we have better KAS and IAS and lower wrung officers,s o we do not need RWAs to do part of the work of govt and few get powerful and further their politicial agenda.

And till that happens that we can stop people like this from getting to powerful by making our own groups for things that are good.

I had my doubts earlier too - when he had a cigarette and threw it on the groud the day we had the Union Street- and part of Bowring hospital road clean up. When I said - why are you littering just after helping cleaning up? All he did was grin! So mostly a show and less real intent?

Blr airport route 5. Around 11:05pm near Bangalore Le Meridian, Hotel, Sankey Road. Bus started from airport around 10:35pm

Injury rough driving BMTC Nov 26 2015. Driver was good, at airport was guiding people. Then a bigger BMTC employee came and chided him to start as his bus time has past. I think that put him in a bad mood. Just before Cauvery Theatre, Sankey road, there was a big function, and a lot of cars leaving. Road was jammed for 5 minutes. He lost his temper from here. Started honking like crazy. Not sure what he hoped for! Then driving at speeds and braking hard. I was in the back. Got up to move towards door (my stop was next).

Driver braked so hard, strap broke and hit a vertical bar. Can see the results. Hope someone from BMTC sees this and tells the drivers to drive more carefully. Also maybe the problem is in the expectations - they cant be expected to be back at a certain time in this bad traffic. We need GPS integrated with local traffic so can show management that driver did not delay trip, but where the traffic was slow.

1. Website :
add html title tag to elements or a help button to show what each class
means like 2S is without AC for someone new to Indian rail its not easy.
or if using after many years
2. allow payment of 3% extra to allow for choosing better seats
example
in 2S if i knew i will get near bathrooms (both ends o coach) would
never have booked. 3rd birth/ 5th row inside is better
3. for fat people allow booking 2 seats in 2s - else if other 2 people are fat too no place
4. have another class similar to 2s but better seats, a little higher, average height of Indian;s is 5'7 now, not 5' 5" like 20 years ago.
5. give pillows and back, neck cushion on train
6. clean bath rooms with good soap every 2 hours. Sell soap on train. Soap and air pillows from a vendor.
7.
sell fresh fruit/ less fattening snacks, at least one. example whole
wheat, lightly toasted bread tomato sandwich with salt and pepper,
prepared at station and sold within 1 hour in hot weather (9a, to5pm), 2
hours if after 5pm or in cloudy/ winter, less than 25 degrees local
temperature
8. less sugar tea and coffee, charge Rs1 extra to compensate for less sales, healthier India, will be more successful.

Wanted to go out to country side for over nite break. Choose 'Rd's Nature Retreat' but did not live up to expectations.
What was okay:
1. if you ignore the immediate litter the surroundings are green, natural valleys and quiet at night
2. boating and bridge crossing was fun
3. staff were courteous

The deal breakers:
1. Bathroom stink. Bad drainage. Pathetic!
2. Resort is littered with cigarettes and plastic. The day we went there was no one else there, but still the management do not get anyone to clean the place up. And it has signs all over about 'Enjoying and preserving nature'.
3. Few food choices, asked for less chilli but still had to wash the vegetables before I could eat it.
4. Advertises they have a swimming pool but is a small splash pool, that is too narrow and shallow to swim
5. Room was full of dust, asked for two dust cloth and cleaned room before could use it.

* careful with recommendations from https://www.goibibo.com/ they obviously dont check what is on their site

Few areas of improvement:

1. Buffet. Eating after 9pm means you get heavily over cooked food. That has been simmering on the heaters.

You will have more diners if you give us a chance to server ourselves cold food and heat in a microwave.

I know this is a big change so you could start with 1 microwave and a few dishes like boiled vegetables and a chicken.

And can retain the heaters, just keep some off the heaters and a small sign saying ~

"For those who don't want food from the heaters : cold food, reheat in microwave ". I have been eatin out after the first day. Luckily many places around. I have been enjoying the cold breakfirst parts and deserts at night.

2. Room staff. I took an extra 'key' when I forgot my own, using that for the electricity. I remove the key from the holder when I leave the room, so it does not waste, but after cleaning they leave it inside.

Also I leave towel on rack but its still changed. Is the sign in the bathroom forgotten?

Otherwise all staff are very polite and helpful.

3. Business center : would be nice to keep an electric strip on top of desk to easily recharge laptop and an extra LAN cable - WIFI is okay but LAN is 4x faster.

4. Water. You lament the waste of laundry but have no problem with plastic? So many plastic bottles. Why not have water filters so we can refill our bottles. That will mean some loss in revenue, but even a 3% increase in room should offset that.

And you can then use that as a marketing and CSR selling point.
